Cells grown in Alvetex maintain their in vivo morphology, behaviour and responsiveness within an in vitro model system. Alvetex 3D cell culture systems enable cells to maintain their natural shape and to freely interact with neighbouring cells in 3D so that they function in a more physiologically relevant manner.

Alvetex 3D Cell Culture Systems are built around scaffold discs comprised of highly porous polystyrene – the same material used to make most disposable cell culture plasticware. After coating Alvetex with the extracellular matrix protein of your choice (optional), mammalian cells will adhere and grow on the surface of the device or within the porous matrix, depending upon the device and application.

Also built around Alvetex Scaffold, the Alvetex Advanced Tissue Bioengineering System is designed for scientists who need biologically relevant, reproducible models such as skin for testing pharmaceuticalscosmeticschemicals, and devices.

Alvetex Scaffold Multi-well Plates

The Alvetex Scaffold 12 Well Plate is primarily suitable for short term culture experiments where the medium is replaced every 1-2 days. Comprised of a single loose disc and clip per well in a 12 well plate.

The Alvetex Scaffold 24 Well Plate is primarily suitable for short term culture experiments where the medium is replaced every 1-2 days. Comprised of a single loose disc and clip per well in a 24 well plate.

The Alvetex Scaffold 96 Well Plate is comprised of a black plate, clear plastic base, with Alvetex Scaffold at the bottom of each well. Compatible with many cell viability assays, cell counting techniques and RNA/protein isolation.

Alvetex Advanced Tissue Bioengineering System

Alvetex Advanced Inserts

The Alvetex Scaffold modular insert containing Alvetex Scaffold membrane (AVP022) is designed for tissue bioengineering. The Alvetex Scaffold membrane is housed within a specially designed insert providing a tight seal around its perimeter, enabling the construction of tight tissue models and barrier testing.

Packs contain multiple units of 6 × Alvetex Advanced 15 mm modular inserts inside a 6-well holder with lid. Each unit is sterile blister packed.

Handle Holders and Insert Holders

 Designed for use with Advanced deep well plates (AVP027, AVP028 or AVP029), paired with Alvetex® Advanced modular well insert handles (low AVP023, medium AVP024, or high AVP025). 

AVP031-1 / AVP031-2 / AVP031-10

Designed for 6 Alvetex Advanced modular inserts (without handles), for enabling researchers to easily move bioengineered tissue models between different format plates with minimal disruption. This holder also provides a layer of separation between the surface of the model and the media source below—useful during the topical application of test compounds/flora to skin models without contaminating the media. 


Alvetex Advanced Kits

ADV-KIT-1

Starter kit enabling the user to experience Alvetex Advanced inserts with options for height adjustment. This will allow the user to grow 3D cultures at alternative levels within the plate, test different media volumes and an option to raise the culture to air-liquid interface. This can be achieved using our bespoke inserts each housing a 15mm Alvetex Scaffold membrane, with low and high insert handles within our bespoke x6 deep welled plates.

ADV-KIT-2

Starter kit enabling the user to experience Alvetex Advanced inserts each housing a 15mm Alvetex Scaffold membrane with options to maintain 3D cultures either in isolation or within shared culture media. The user may choose to first generate their models each in isolation in our bespoke ×6 deep welled plate, then bringing them together for co-culture/paracrine studies in our novel 75ml single well plate.
