REPROCELL was honoured to welcome Neil Gray, Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, to its Yokohama headquarters last week. The visit marked a significant step in strengthening international collaboration between Scotland and Japan in the field of life sciences and healthcare innovation.

During the visit, Mr. Gray and his delegation from the Scottish Government met with Chika Yokoyama, CEO of REPROCELL Inc., and Daisuke Usui, COO, for a business briefing and tour of the company’s laboratory facilities. The visit highlighted the strong and growing ties between Japan and Scotland, where REPROCELL operates a wholly owned subsidiary, REPROCELL Europe Ltd., based in the West of Scotland Science Park in Glasgow.

“Life sciences are at the heart of my agenda,” Mr. Gray said, highlighting his commitment to fostering innovation and partnerships in health and research. The Minister noted that his visit to Japan was focused on exploring advances in healthcare and strengthening Scotland’s global engagement in the sector.

The discussion highlighted REPROCELL Europe’s significant role in drug discovery, with Glasgow serving as a key hub for the company’s human fresh tissue assays. This innovative service helps pharmaceutical companies improve the success rate of clinical trials by generating more predictive, human-relevant data early in the drug development process.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to deepening the collaborative ties between Scotland and Japan’s life sciences sectors.
