Webinar: A Breath of Innovation: Immortalizing Alveolar Cells for Infection and Tox Testing
14 May 2025
Two sessions:
EMEA: 12:00 BST / 13:00 CEST
The Americas: 12:00 EDT / 9:00 PDT
This webinar introduces a novel approach to the immortalization of primary alveolar and lung-resident cells using inscreenex’s proprietary, patent-protected technology. Unlike traditional methods that often compromise cellular phenotype, this gentle immortalization platform enables the generation of stable cell lines while preserving essential morphological and functional characteristics. The method is broadly applicable across tissues and species, providing a robust foundation for the development of physiologically relevant in vitro models.
We will present case studies demonstrating the application of these immortalized lung cell lines in infection biology and toxicology. Their utility in modeling host–pathogen interactions, evaluating respiratory toxicity, and supporting early-stage drug development underscores their relevance as translational tools. This platform represents a significant advancement for researchers seeking more predictive and reproducible cell models in pulmonary research.
About our Speaker
Dr. Tobias May is co-founder and managing director of inscreenex GmbH. He studied Biochemistry at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and received his PhD in Molecular Biology in 2005 from the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hansjörg Hauser. His work focuses on the development of physiologically relevant cell models through gentle immortalization technologies for applications in infection biology, toxicology, and drug development
