Stemolecule A769662 is a cell-permeable small molecule that activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). A769662, a thienopyridone, was identified as an effective AMPK activator by screening a chemical library of over 700,000 compounds1. The activation of AMPK inhibits mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) signaling, which is a positive affecter of cell growth, proliferation and survival2. A769662, therefore,may be useful as an inhibitor for both cell survival and cell proliferation.

For a 10 mM concentrated stock solution of A769662, reconstitute the compound by adding 2.76 mL of DMSO to the entire contents of the vial. If precipitate is observed, warm the solution to 37 °C for 2 to 5 minutes. For cell culture, the media should be prewarmed prior to adding the reconstituted compound. Note: for most cells, the maximum tolerance to DMSO is less than 0.5%. This molecule is soluble in DMSO at 100 mM.
