Medical problems of the genitourinary system can include a range of disorders such as congenital anomalies, infectious diseases, trauma or conditions that involve the urinary structure or function. Of particular interest as drug development targets are the kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra and prostate.

BREPROCELL Biopta’s (now part of our Centre for Predictive Drug Discovery) have extensive experience assessing contractile and relaxatory responses in fresh human tissues, including bladder, prostate and urethra. Ex vivo assays using bladder and other tissues are also feasible. Furthermore, human genitourinary tissue specimens are available from REPROCELL’s BioServe tissue resources.
