Disease Focus: Inflammation
Chronic inflammation is central to a number of human diseases, including atherosclerosis IBD, asthma, and rheumatoid arthritis. As such, inflammation represents a promising target for research into new therapies for these conditions. REPROCELL offers a number of services for inflammatory disease research.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
IBD is a major focus of research in the pharmaceutical industry. Reprocell offers the only available ex vivo test of drug efficacy using human fresh diseased tissues obtained from donors with ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. Such tests enable companies to investigate mechanisms of action or efficacy using the most relevant model of disease, which reflects the patient population.
Precision Cut Lung Slice Assay
Use of precision cut lung slices, which retain the structural and functional integrity of healthy or diseased lung tissue, allows for measuring the effect of test compounds on biomarker release, structural integrity, tissue viability or inflammatory processes can be evaluated. Cross-species comparisons also allow the translation of preclinical animal data to the human situation to be assessed.
